What intensive therapy is

For clients who want to make meaningful progress sooner, I offer a more focused, intensive approach with longer or more frequent sessions over a shorter period. This helps you stay engaged and build "break-through" momentum while we more quickly identify patterns, process deeper issues, and begin meaningful changes.

Standard weekly therapy is effective, but the week between sessions can reset momentum — you spend the first part of each session reconnecting to where you left off. An intensive format reconfigures this: by working in longer or back-to-back sessions, we keep continuity, go deeper, and reach traction faster.

The work itself is the same care I bring to every client — structured, insight-focused, and grounded in safety. What changes is the pacing and structure, so progress that might otherwise take months can happen in a concentrated, well-supported block.

Who it's especially helpful for

Intensive therapy works well when you have something specific to move through and the capacity to dedicate focused time to it. It is especially helpful for:

  • Couples navigating infidelity or a relationship crisis — when waiting a week between sessions feels too long and the situation needs concentrated attention
  • Individuals working through trauma — processing difficult experiences with continuity rather than starting and stopping week to week
  • People dealing with anxiety or high levels of stress — building tools and relief in a focused stretch rather than slowly over months
  • Clients with a specific target — a single event or a defined period — they want to work through
  • Anyone traveling from outside the area, or facing an upcoming event or transition, who wants concentrated progress in a shorter window

Weekly therapy vs. intensive

Weekly therapy

  • 50-minute sessions, once per week
  • Progress paced gradually across months
  • Easy to fit around work and life schedules
  • Time between sessions allows slow integration
  • The standard path for most people

Intensive therapy

  • Longer or more frequent sessions over a shorter period
  • Momentum and "break-through" continuity between sessions
  • Requires dedicating focused time in a concentrated block
  • Deeper issues processed without week-to-week resets
  • Better for crises, specific targets, or time-pressured situations

How it works

Intensives are designed around your situation, so the format isn't one-size-fits-all. We start with a consultation to understand what you're working through and what you're hoping to accomplish, then shape a plan — session length, frequency, and how many days — that fits the work and your schedule. Because they're scheduled case by case, the best first step is simply to reach out and talk it through.
